On Saturday October 14th, Applecrate Galleries hosted another wonderful vernissage. This one featured Michael Barney’s wonderful works depicting everyday life. It was an intimate gathering of friends, family, and members of the local art community.
This is an exhibition that Mike has been working on for the past year. The works depict snapshots of people living life to the fullest. All stages of life are represented in this show, from kids diving into a lake, to young men rowing down the river, to a grandmother enjoying some quality time with a grand son.
Mike’s pallet is vivid, with plenty of sunlight. Sunlight is a predominant element in all the paintings regardless if they are taking place in winter or summer. All of the painting’s subjects are outside allowing Michael the opportunity to capture the brilliance of the sun.
The warmth of the gathering matched the warmth in his paintings. The event was an extension of the artwork’s theme. We were all gathered in a wonderful moment of a day in the life. It was an added treat to meet some of the subjects of the paintings, and see their excitement of being represented with such sensitivity and artistry.
We would like to thank La Piazza Ristorante once again for providing the lovely refreshments throughout the evening.
The show will be running until December 15, make sure you add it to your holiday agenda to share with visiting family and friends.
